In my experience, being generous with things like my time, experience, praise and knowledge has proven to be incredibly rewarding. I used to feel as though I was lacking if I could not contribute financially to things like Christmas gifts, birthday parties, meetings, etc. Not being able to donate to a fund for a person in need made me feel less than. Today I know it isn’t true – I give what I can where I can. Generosity comes in all different avenues. More people than I can even count have been generous to me with their time, their ears, their advice, their shoulders, their willingness to give rides, to help clean, to keep me company, to just be. Generosity is free, and it pays in spades.
